New Delhi, July 21(HS): The domestic stock market showed an upward trend in early trading on the first business day of the week, despite fluctuations. Trading began strongly, but selling pressure quickly pushed the Sensex and Nifty indices into the red shortly after market opening. However, buying activity ensued, enabling both indices to recover and enter positive territory. By 10 a.m., the Sensex was up 0.39 percent, while the Nifty increased by 0.29 percent.

Notable gainers included ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, and Hindalco Industries, with gains between 2.15 percent and 0.51 percent. Conversely, stocks like IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Wipro, Tata Consumer Products, and Axis Bank faced declines ranging from 3.55 percent to 1.31 percent. Of the 2,493 shares actively traded, 1,147 achieved gains, while 1,346 suffered losses. In the Sensex, out of 30 shares, 13 were in the green due to buying, while 17 faced selling pressure. The Nifty showed similar trends with 18 of 50 shares in the green and 32 in the red.

The Sensex opened at 81,918.53, climbing by 160.80 points, but quickly fell to 81,518.66 due to selling before rebounding to 82,078.72 by 10 a.m., up 320.99 points. The Nifty opened at 24,999, reaching 25,041.40, up 73 points. Last Friday, the Sensex closed at 81,757.73, down 501.51 points, and the Nifty at 24,968.40, down 143.05 points.
