Kolkata, 21 July (H.S.) Veteran Congress leader and former West Bengal minister Abu Hena passed away at the age of 75. He was serving as the president of the Murshidabad District Congress Committee at the time of his demise. A prominent face in West Bengal politics, Abu Hena was elected as an MLA for six consecutive terms from 1991 to 2021.

In 2011, when the Trinamool Congress and Congress alliance came to power in the state, he was appointed as the Minister of Horticulture. He breathed his last at around 10:45 PM on Sunday in Kolkata.

According to Congress sources, his mortal remains will arrive in Berhampore around 11 AM on Monday. Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has expressed deep sorrow over his death.
