Kokrajhar (Assam), 2 July (HS): A two-day teacher training workshop in Kokrajhar, jointly organised by Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Infosys Foundation and Agastya International Foundation, concluded successfully on Wednesday. The workshop was organised for over 300 teachers who had earlier undergone STEM-based training in Bengaluru. The first phase of the series was organised in Kokrajhar on July 1 and 2, in which over 40 teachers participated.

The aim of the training is to bring teachers on one platform to share their experiences, make them aware of new teaching methods and instill enthusiasm in them towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.

Teachers from Kokrajhar and Kachugaon blocks participated enthusiastically in the workshop. The participating teachers shared their experiences in the field of STEM and learned new techniques through creative activities.

On the first day of the program, Kokrajhar BEEO Sudhanshu Saha, Kachugaon BEEO Pavitra Hajowari and DPO Jasmanik Brahma were present as special guests.

Today, on the last day, BTC Principal Secretary Akash Deep was present. The guests appreciated the training program and expected from the teachers that they will implement these innovations in classroom teaching.

Muniraj and Venkatesh of Agastya Foundation from Bengaluru played an important role in making this workshop successful. Regional Experience Leader Ramesh Kumar Singh, Area Leader Sanjeev Mishra, Ashwini and other team members of the local team — Uraina, Shanti, Pranjal, Bhaokhungri, Pritam, Manoj and Jacklong — actively contributed in conducting various sessions.

This training series will now be organized in Gosaigaon, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri districts as well. Two-day workshops will be organized in each district between July 1 and July 20.

The basic objective of this initiative is to motivate teachers towards STEM education and prepare them to face the educational challenges of the 21st century. Such training workshops are considered an important step towards quality improvement in regional education.
