TVK Flag Row: Madras HC to Deliver Verdict on BSP's Plea on July 3

Chennai, 2 July (H.S.): The Madras High Court is set to deliver its verdict on July 3 in a case filed by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) seeking a ban on the use of an elephant symbol on the flag of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, founded by actor Vijay. The BSP claimed that the elephant symbol, which is their official election symbol, is being used on the TVK party flag, potentially creating confusion among voters.

The TVK party responded to the petition, stating that the BSP's interim plea is not maintainable and should be dismissed with a penalty. They argued that the Election Commission had already issued a favorable order in their favor regarding the flag issue. The TVK side also asserted that there is no similarity between their flag and the BSP's official party symbol, making it clear that the petition was filed purely for publicity purposes.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court announced that it will issue its ruling on the interim petition filed by the BSP on July 3. The verdict will determine whether TVK will be allowed to continue using the elephant symbol on its flag or if the party will have to make changes to avoid confusion with the BSP's election symbol.
