Kaushambi,
02 July (HS): An accused wanted in a double murder investigation was captured
after a confrontation with police here early Wednesday morning, according to
officials.
According
to authorities, the accused, Virendra, was shot in the leg and is in the
hospital.
According
to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar, the remains of Gudia Devi (45)
and Gorelal (42), who were in a relationship, were discovered three days ago in
Gauhani village, which is located in the Charwa police station area. A case was opened against unnamed individuals
in response to a complaint from the relatives of the dead.
Gudia
had left her husband and was now living with her parents, while Gorelal's wife
had also returned to her family after leaving him, he added. He claimed
electronic monitoring led police to two suspects in Malka village: Virendra and
Shiv Babu.
In
the early hours of Wednesday, police tracked down Virendra near a chicken farm
after receiving a tip. After being
encircled by police, the accused reportedly opened fire on them in an attempt
to flee. Kumar said that in retaliation,
he was shot in the right leg and detained.
Virendra
was brought to a district hospital for treatment. The officer said that he was found with a
country-made pistol (.315 bore) and one live ammunition. Police claimed they
are working to apprehend Shiv Babu.
