02 July (HS): Under the campaign being run against criminals in Ghazipur
district, the joint team of Khanpur and Saidpur police station has achieved
great success. In an encounter that took place early on Wednesday, the police
caught three notorious criminals including one with a reward of Rs. 25,000. In
the retaliatory firing, all three criminals were shot in the legs, who have
been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
In
the early morning, the police station in-charge inspector of Khanpur was
checking vehicles at Pokhara turn with his team. During this, three people were
seen coming on a bike without helmets from Bhujua side. The police signaled
them to stop. The miscreants tried to run over the policemen with the bike and
started running away. Khanpur police immediately informed the control room and
Saidpur police station. The police station in-charge of Saidpur showed
promptness and blocked the road at Budhipur turn and laid siege. Seeing
themselves surrounded, the miscreants fired three rounds from country-made
pistols at the police. The police retaliated in self-defense, in which all
three miscreants were shot in the legs and they fell from the bike. The police
team, taking precautions, caught the injured miscreants. The police team has
recovered three pistols, three live cartridges and three shells from the spot.
The three criminals were identified as Avinash Yadav, son of late Bharat Yadav,
resident of village Koodalambi, police station Khanpur, Vikas alias Kariya
Yadav, son of Ramkunwar, resident of village Narkata Fork, police station
Chandwak, district Jaunpur, Devendra Chauhan alias Kallu Chauhan, son of
Virendra Chauhan, resident of village Kainthwalia, police station Khanpur.
The
injured miscreants have been sent to CHC Khanpur for first aid. According to
the Superintendent of Police office, legal action is being taken against the
accused under the relevant sections. As soon as the information of the incident
was received, police officers reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
Police officers said that the campaign against criminals in the district will
be made stricter. It is worth noting that one of the miscreants arrested in the
encounter, Avinash Yadav, has a reward of Rs. 25,000 on his head. He is also a
named accused in the case of murderous attack on BJP leader Triveni Singh and
his nephew Vishwajeet alias Rajan Singh, a resident of Kudhalambi village of
Khanpur police station of the district. The police team caught Avinash along
with his accomplices in an encounter that took place within 36 hours of the
incident.
