Washington, July 18 (H.S.): President Donald J. Trump plans to sue The Wall Street Journal, News Corp, and Rupert Murdoch over the publication of an alleged lewd letter he supposedly wrote to Jeffrey Epstein, which Trump claims is fake. After the report surfaced in The Wall Street Journal, Trump expressed his discontent on Truth Social, asserting he had warned the publication about legal action if the letter was released. Media experts noted that while Murdoch had promised to investigate the claims, he lacked the authority to handle the issue effectively.
Trump’s press secretary, Caroline Levitt, had communicated with the Journal's editor, Emma Tucker, insisting the letter was fabricated, but Tucker reportedly remained committed to the story. In his statements, Trump emphasized that the press needs to uphold truthfulness and should avoid unreliable sources. He criticized The Wall Street Journal, claiming it has lost its journalistic integrity and become mediocre. He suggested that if the letter contained any truth, it would be used by opponents like Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, dismissing the report as another instance of fake news.
The Wall Street Journal had published a report featuring Trump’s name alongside a collection of congratulatory letters to Epstein, which included controversial content. Trump firmly denied having authored such a letter or created any lewd images, defending his character and language. The report emerged in the context of Epstein's notorious past, which includes allegations of sex trafficking and subsequent suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, leading to widespread speculation and conspiracy theories.
