Delhi, 18 July (H.S.): Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Conference 2025 in Noida, addressing an audience of students and young leaders. He encouraged the youth to play an active role in achieving a Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Pledges) for Amrit Kaal.
Goyal emphasized that India is on the verge of significant transformation, marking the 25-year journey to the centenary of independence as especially pivotal. He called on youth to envision themselves as the primary catalysts for India’s development by 2047, stressing that this ambition hinges on embracing all five pledges.
The first pledge is the commitment to transform India into a developed nation. Goyal encouraged the youth to reflect on their responsibilities in this effort. The second pledge advocates for discarding the colonial mindset caused by historical subjugation, urging a collective aspiration towards meeting global standards and pursuing ambitious objectives.
The third pledge emphasizes pride in India's heritage, advocating for the integration of history, culture, and traditions into the development process. The Minister noted that “Vikas bhi, virasat bhi”—development should go hand in hand with preserving heritage, as diversity is a key strength.
On the fourth pledge, Goyal underscored the importance of national unity and integrity, praising IIMUN for fostering engagement among youth both nationally and internationally. He claimed this unity is essential for the nation’s advancement.
The fifth pledge embodies the collective responsibility of all citizens to contribute to nation-building. Goyal highlighted the need for shared compassion, particularly towards marginalized communities, ensuring inclusive and sustainable progress.
He emphasized the significance of teachers and mentors in shaping future citizens and urged youth to consider public service as a pathway for positive change. Citing the Prime Minister's call for one lakh young individuals to enter politics, he encouraged engagement in public life as essential for effective policymaking.
In conclusion, Goyal challenged the youth to become changemakers in India's future, assuring them that with united efforts, all challenges can be surmounted.
