New Delhi, July 18(HS): The Supreme Court, led by Justice M.M. Sundresh, declined to hear Lalu Yadav's petition aiming to halt the trial court proceedings in the Land for Jobs case. Lalu Yadav contested a Delhi High Court ruling, seeking cancellation of the CBI's FIR and chargesheet. His defense stated no FIR was filed from 2004 to 2009, claiming the CBI's 2020 FIR followed a closure report and constituted harassment.

He also argued that the CBI violated Section 19 of the Prevention of Corruption Act by not obtaining required prior permission under Section 17A. The CBI had submitted a chargesheet against Yadav, Rabri Devi, Meera Bharti, and 16 others on October 7, 2022.
