Guyana, July 18 (H.S.): Heavy rains disrupted the final match of the group stage of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), preventing the Rangpur Riders from securing their fourth consecutive victory against the bottom-placed Central Stags. The match at Providence Stadium was first reduced to 17 overs and then to 14 overs but ultimately was abandoned due to further rain.
Only the Riders batted, collapsing for a mere 79 runs in 13.5 overs, with Saif Hasan and Mahedi Hasan being the only players to score in double digits. The Riders were spared from further embarrassment as the Stags never got to bat.
Despite the disappointing results of their campaign, the Stags' bowlers excelled, particularly Angus Shaw, Jaden Lennox, and Blair Tickner, who each took three wickets. The pitch favored both fast and spin bowling. Attention now turns to the final match on Friday night between the Rangpur Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors, with hopes for favorable weather to ensure an exciting conclusion to this GSL season.
