London, July 18 (H.S.): Wolves football club has inducted Portugal's Diogo Jota into their Hall of Fame following his untimely death, which deeply affected the football community. Jota, along with his brother Andre Silva, tragically died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain, on July 3, with Andre being only 25 years old.
The Hall of Fame decision, typically requiring lengthy discussions, was made swiftly and unanimously by an independent committee led by club legend John Richards, emphasizing the emotional significance of Jota’s legacy. Jota joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in July 2017, scoring 44 goals over 131 matches and playing a vital role in the team’s Championship title win and promotion to the Premier League in the 2017-18 season.
Wolves will honor Diogo and Andre by paying tribute during two upcoming home matches: a pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo on August 9 and a Premier League opener against Manchester City the following week.
