Murshidabad, 17 July (H.S.) A shocking incident took place on Thursday morning in Gangedda village under Bharatpur Police Station in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, where a woman was allegedly attacked by a neighbouring youth with a sharp weapon. The severely injured woman has been admitted to Kandi Sub-Divisional Hospital.

According to local sources, the woman was washing utensils near a pond when the accused suddenly approached her from behind and attacked her with a sharp weapon, slashing her neck. As a result, the woman sustained serious injuries.

On information, the police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiries are underway to determine whether there was any prior relationship between the victim and the accused.

The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack and is currently absconding. The police have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend him.
