17 July (HS): Ballia police has succeeded in arresting a criminal with a reward
of Rs. 25,000 in an encounter during wee hours. During the encounter, the
criminal was shot in his right leg. ASP Anil Jha said on Thursday morning that
at around quarter to two in the night, the police team of Nagra police station
was checking near Rekua-Naseerpur turn. During this time, a suspicious person
coming on a motorcycle was signaled to stop. But the motorcyclist tried to run
away without stopping by turning back. He was chased by the police team. Seeing
himself surrounded by the police, the motorcyclist opened fire on the police.
In self-defense retaliation, the police shot him in his right leg. He said that
during interrogation it was found that the injured person is Satish Saini, son
of late Munna Saini, resident of Guthauli police station Bansdih Road. Who,
along with his companions, had stolen some boxes of country liquor, cash and
scanner from the country liquor shop Pakdih on the night of May 20 and June 4.
Not only this, on May 9, a motorcycle was stolen from Gadwar and on May 24, a
robbery was committed near Jamuan canal culvert Ubhav. The injured miscreant
Satish Saini has been taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment. A pistol, an empty
cartridge and a live cartridge have been recovered from Satish Saini's
possession.
