(HS): A prisoner serving a life term for killing his wife in Nagpur’s Central
Jail. Committed suicide inside the jail.
The prisoner
Tulsiram Lakadu Shende (54), a native of Sakoli in Bhandara district, ended his
life by hanging himself from a window bar using the elastic of his underwear. Jail
officers on Wednesday confirmed that the incident happened around 7.50 am on
Tuesday behind the jail’s painting section warehouse.
Tulsiram was
convicted by the Bhandara Sessions Court in June 2014 and sentenced to life
imprisonment. He was released on parole during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tulsiram
was again arrested as he did not report back on expiry of the parole term.
Since then he had no contact with his family. He was believed to be under mental
stress due to isolation. So far no family member has come to claim his body.
