Nagpur,
17 July (HS): In a bid to reach unorganised workers and amplify their rights,
YUVA (Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action) staged a series of street plays in
Nagpur.
These
performances were organised to raise awareness about YUVA’s Labour Helpline, a
support service operational across Maharashtra, to address issues such as wage
theft, unsafe working conditions, and workplace exploitation.
Each
performance brought to life the everyday struggles of labourers, be it domestic
workers, construction workers, or vendors, through relatable storytelling,
humour, and gripping dialogues. The plays highlighted how the Labour Helpline
can be a powerful tool for seeking justice and support.
“This
helpline is not just a phone number. It’s a platform where workers can speak up
and be heard,” said one of the performers.
This
awareness campaign is part of YUVA’s ongoing work to ensure dignity, justice,
and rights for all workers.
