Bihar government announces free electricity up to 125 units from August 1
Delhi, 17 July (H.S.): The Nitish government in Bihar has announced that all domestic electricity consumers will receive 125 units of electricity free of charge each month, benefiting 1.67 crore families starting August 1, 2025, based on July bills.

Delhi, 17 July (H.S.): The Nitish government in Bihar has announced that all domestic electricity consumers will receive 125 units of electricity free of charge each month, benefiting 1.67 crore families starting August 1, 2025, based on July bills.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that this initiative aims to provide affordable electricity and plans to install solar energy plants on rooftops or in public places within three years, with government support for extremely poor families under the Kutir Jyoti scheme.

This initiative is expected to generate up to 10,000 megawatts of solar energy in the state, ensuring that domestic consumers will not incur costs for the first 125 units of electricity consumed.
