Saharanpur,
16 July (HS): A wonderful example of 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb' (Hindu-Muslim
bonhomie) was observed in Saharanpur when Kairana MP Iqra Hasan personally
served food to pilgrims at three Kanwar service camps, conveying the message of
love and religious tolerance. Iqra Hasan of the Samajwadi Party visited three
Kanwar Yatra pilgrim sites in Saharanpur: Shiv Seva Kanwar Sangh, Shri Kailash
Dham Shiv Kanwar Seva, and Shri Shiv Om Samiti Kanwar Seva. After personally
distributing food to each of these camps, the Muslim lady MP expressed her
delight in being able to feed Shiva worshipers. Hasan expressed her joy at
being a part of the event and stated that what she observed was more than
simply a religious gesture, but a mirror of mankind, showing India's genuine
power.
She
emphasized that this is more than simply a country; it is a land of values and
cultures.
She
applauded the selfless contribution of men and women from many social groups
who volunteered at camps, and described the project as a symbol of not just
religious dedication but also of communal solidarity. She stated that the type
of service provided here without prejudice is something that modern politicians
should emulate.
Kanwar
camps greeted Iqra Hasan with customary chunari (scarf) and pagdi (turban) as a
gesture of respect. MP commended the
organisers for their efforts in conducting camps.
Kanwar
Yatra is an annual pilgrimage carried out by Lord Shiva followers on foot
during the auspicious month of Shravan in the Hindu calendar. They collect water from the Ganges and
present it to Lord Shiva at their shrines.
