New Delhi, July 16 (HS): The domestic stock market faced pressure during early trading today, opening flat. Initially, both Sensex and Nifty indices saw slight gains due to buying support, but soon after, selling pressure pushed them into the red. By 10 AM, the Sensex had dropped by 0.15 percent, while Nifty fell by 0.17 percent. Among leading stocks, Trent Limited, Tech Mahindra, HDFC Life, State Bank of India, and SBI Life Insurance showed gains between 1.19 percent and 0.52 percent. Conversely, Shriram Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Cipla, and Bajaj Auto experienced losses ranging from 2.65 percent to 1.04 percent. Of the 2,401 stocks traded, 1,495 were in the green while 906 were in the red. In Sensex, 8 out of 30 shares remained positive, whereas 22 traded negatively. In Nifty, 16 shares were in the green and 34 in the red.

The BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 36.25 points at 82,534.66 points. It briefly rose to 82,634.96 points due to initial buying, then fell to 82,371.52 points under selling pressure, before recovering slightly. By 10 AM, it was down 126.35 points at 82,444.56. Similarly, NSE's Nifty started with a marginal gain at 25,196.60 points, reached a peak of 25,218.95 points but fell to 25,127.75 points. By 10 AM, Nifty was down 43.75 points at 25,152.05. The previous trading day saw Sensex close up by 317.45 points, and Nifty by 113.50 points.
