NDA Alliance Stable, Attempts to Create Rift Won't Succeed: Palaniswami

Chennai, 16 July (H.S.): The AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu is stable, and any attempts to create divisions among its constituents will not succeed, party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Wednesday. Palaniswami's remarks come after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's reported comments about a potential coalition government in the state following the 2026 Assembly elections.

Palaniswami emphasized that the AIADMK will lead the NDA in Tamil Nadu and form the government if the alliance emerges victorious. He made it clear that his decisions regarding the alliance would be final. The Leader of Opposition also slammed Chief Minister M K Stalin's 'Ungaludan Stalin' outreach program, calling it a drama intended to mislead the people of Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The AIADMK's alliance with the BJP has been under scrutiny, with some speculating about potential power-sharing arrangements. However, Palaniswami has denied any such plans, stating that Amit Shah's comments were misinterpreted. According to Palaniswami, Shah meant that the AIADMK-BJP alliance would form the government, with him leading it in Tamil Nadu.

Palaniswami's comments aim to reassure the public and alliance partners about the stability of the NDA in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK's decision to join the NDA has been seen as a strategic move to counter the ruling DMK in the state. With the 2026 Assembly elections approaching, the NDA's stability and unity will be crucial in determining its chances of success.
