Delhi, 16 July (H.S.): Signals of weakness are evident in the global market today. American markets closed mixed, with Dow Jones futures declining. European markets experienced ongoing selling pressure in the last session. The Dow Jones fell by as much as 450 points, concluding with S&P 500 down 0.40% at 6,243.76 points, while Nasdaq gained 0.18%, closing at 20,677.80 points.
Currently, Dow Jones futures show weakness at 43,968.48 points, down 0.12%. In the European market, continued pressure was noted, with the FTSE index declining 0.67% to 8,938.32 points, CAC index down 0.54% to 7,766.21 points, and DAX index losing 100.35 points or 0.42%, finishing at 24,060.29 points.
In Asia, trading is mixed; 6 out of 9 markets show gains while 3 are in decline. The Nifty index is down 0.24% at 25,204.50 points, KOSPI down 0.62% at 3,195.46 points, and Shanghai Composite at 3,500.62 points, off by 0.12%.
Conversely, the Nikkei index gained 0.17% to 39,745.26 points, and the Straits Times is up by 0.23% to 4,129.48 points. Notably, the Taiwan Weighted Index surged 0.94% to 23,051.05 points, while the Hang Seng index rose 0.46% to 24,704.05 points, and Jakarta Composite up 0.45% at 7,172.88 points. The SET Composite Index rose 0.34% to 1,164.97 points.
