Sribhumi (Assam), 16 July (HS): Sensation spread in the area after the body of a person was recovered from Kushiyara river in Sribhumi district on Wednesday.

Police said that as soon as information was received about a dead body floating in the river near Bhawanipur BSF border post located on the banks of Kushiyara river flowing from the India-Bangladesh border area, information about the incident was given to Sribhumi Sadar police.

The police and BSF team reached the spot and jointly conducted an operation and recovered the body from the river and brought it to the immersion ghat of Sribhumi town. The police took the body in their possession and sent it to Karimganj Government Hospital for post-mortem. Till the last information was received, the deceased could not be identified. Police is investigating the matter.
