Taipei (Taiwan), July 16 (H.S.): China is actively working to assert its claim over Taiwan, which it views as a breakaway province. This morning, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported increased military activity from China, including 18 military aircraft, seven naval vessels, and two official ships. Notably, six of the aircraft crossed the median line, entering Taiwan's air defense identification zones. In response, Taiwan deployed its own military assets to monitor and counter these actions.

The defense ministry also shared that Minister Wellington Koo visited Hualien to check on soldiers involved in runway repairs. Intrusions by Chinese military aircraft are frequent, with previous reports indicating 26 aircraft, seven naval vessels, and one official ship active around Taiwan just a day prior. Additionally, on July 12, 14 Chinese military aircraft and nine naval vessels were reported in the vicinity.

Furthermore, reports indicate China is conducting seabed mapping around Guam, potentially for military purposes related to underwater cable laying. These developments highlight ongoing tensions in the Taiwan Strait, as China's military presence continues to grow around Taiwan's borders.
