Delhi, 16 July (H.S.): On 15th July,Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla returned safely to Earth from his notable 18-day mission aboard the International Space Station, symbolizing India's aspirations and pride. The Cabinet on wednesday celebrates this historic achievement as it marks the first Indian astronaut's journey to the ISS, initiated on 25th June 2025. This mission is pivotal in showcasing India's advancements in space exploration, heralding a future filled with potential.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), along with dedicated scientists and engineers, is commended for facilitating this success. During his stay at the ISS, Group Captain Shukla collaborated with the Axiom-4 Crew and Expedition 73, exemplifying India's role in international space efforts. He conducted innovative microgravity experiments, focusing on muscle regeneration, algal and microbial growth, and cognitive performance, significantly contributing to global knowledge in space science and informing future Indian missions.

This accomplishment enhances India's global presence in space and serves as a crucial step toward ambitious projects like Gaganyaan and the Bharatiya Antariksha Station, reaffirming India's commitment to leading in human space exploration. The visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been instrumental in navigating the nation towards these new achievements.

The Cabinet recalls India's recent milestones, such as the Chandrayaan-3 landing on 23rd August 2023 and the Aditya-L1 Mission, both reflecting India's scientific prowess and self-reliance. Reforms in the space sector have spurred growth, resulting in approximately 300 new start-ups, fostering innovation and job creation. Group Captain Shukla's journey inspires the youth of India to engage in science and innovation, invigorating the nation's goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
