Kokrajhar (Assam), 16 July (HS): The closing ceremony of the first Bodoland CEM Cup Football Competition organized under the aegis of the BTR government was held on Tuesday night in the presence of thousands of football lovers at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated this final match played between Kachugaon and Kajalgaon council areas. On this occasion, BTR chief Pramod Boro, Assam Sports Minister Nandita Garlosa, Minister UG Brahma, MP Jayant Basumatari and many executive members of BTR were present and everyone enjoyed the game with the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on this occasion that Assam's largest football stadium will be built in Kokrajhar at a cost of ₹125 crore.
It is noteworthy that a total of 3760 teams and 67,680 players participated in this competition which started on June 14, from VCDC level to the final.
In the final match, the Kachugaon Council team defeated the Kajalgaon Council team 2-0 and won the title of winner. The winning team was awarded one and a ₹1.5 lakh and a trophy, while the runner-up team was awarded ₹1 lakh along with a trophy.
BTR chief Pramod Boro expressed happiness over the success of the competition and thanked Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for this.
