Leh, 16 July (H.S.): Two persons lost their lives while fourteen others were injured after a civilian vehicle met with an accident near Gumri in the early hours today.

As per reports, the mishap occurred around 5:45 AM when a Traveller carrying seventeen passengers skidded off the road about 500 metres from Gumri towards Drass.

“Among the injured, eight suffered serious injuries while six sustained minor wounds. The driver escaped without any injuries,” reports said.

They said the Indian Army and Ladakh Police responded quickly, launching a prompt rescue operation.

All injured passengers were given first aid at the MI Room, Gumri, and later shifted to the Sub-District Hospital, Drass, for further treatment, reports said.

Meanwhile police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
