Kyiv, July 15 (H.S.): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has nominated Yulia Svyrydenko as the new Prime Minister, pending Parliament approval, making her Ukraine's second female PM after Yulia Tymoshenko. Her confirmation is expected to be straightforward due to Zelenskyy’s parliamentary majority. Additionally, Denys Shmyhal is proposed to take over as defence minister, given his qualifications for the position.
In a post on X,Zelensky wrote , I have proposed that Yulia Svyrydenko lead the Ukrainian government. She will bring significant changes to the functioning of the Prime Minister's office. I look forward to the presentation of the new government's work plan in the near future.
Zelensky mentioned that he had a meeting with Yulia Svyrydenko. Both discussed the implementation of agreements made with European and American partners regarding support for Ukraine. They also talked about concrete steps to enhance Ukraine's economic potential, expand support programs for Ukrainians, and increase domestic arms production.
The president wrote on X, To achieve this goal, I have initiated changes in Ukraine's executive branch. I have proposed that Yulia Svyrydenko lead the Ukrainian government.
Yulia has served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine since November 4, 2021. She graduated in Antimonopoly Management from Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics in 2008. Yulia began her career as an economist, later becoming the permanent representative of Chernihiv in Wuxi in 2011 and head of the Economic Development Department of Chernihiv Oblast in 2015. She was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Office on December 22, 2020.
