Odisha CM Expresses Grief Over FM College Student's Death, Announces ₹20 Lakh Compensation


Bhubaneswar, 15 July (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Fakir Mohan Autonomous College student in Balasore. The student, who had attempted self-immolation in protest, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

In an official statement shared by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Odisha), Shri Majhi offered prayers for the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The Chief Minister has directed authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the guilty are brought to justice with the “strictest possible punishment under the law.” He emphasized that no one involved in the incident will be spared.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced an ex gratia of ₹20 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to be provided to the student’s next of kin as a gesture of support during this time of immense grief.
