Goalpara, 15 July (HS): Leftists are trying to find political ground among the suspected citizens evicted from government land in Goalpara district. On Tuesday, CPI(M) leaders reached the site of the drive in Goalpara. They alleged that inhuman eviction drives are being carried out without making arrangements for rehabilitation. Against this, a massive protest was organized in front of the District Commissioner's Office on Tuesday under the leadership of CPI(M). More than 5,000 people from various areas including Dhubri, Krishnai, Dhoptla, Forest Gate, Hachila, Karbala and Balbala participated in this demonstration and raised loud anti-government slogans.

The protesters raised slogans like Stop inhuman eviction, Eviction will not go on without rehabilitation, Down with BJP government, Himanta Biswa Sarma Hai-Hai, Give proper compensation and rehabilitation, Stop giving people's land to Adani-Ambani.

People from different communities participated in this protest program and demanded immediate stop to the inhuman eviction drive being run by the Assam government. Other leaders including Sarbhog MLA Manoranjan Talukdar, CPIM state secretary Suprakash Talukdar, Goalpara district committee's Nani Das and Parvez Ali also participated in the protest.

Political analysts believe that the leftist parties, which have lost their political ground in Assam as well as across the country, are trying to surround the BJP government in the 2026 elections by gathering a crowd of displaced suspected citizens. At the same time, many political parties including Congress, Riser Dal are busy making them their vote bank. On the other hand, the Election Commission has started identifying suspicious voters before the elections. It may happen that a crowd of suspicious citizens may not prove effective in terms of votes.
