Delhi, 15 July (H.S.): India's digital and creative economy is poised for growth with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) opening admissions in August for its first student cohort. The institute will deliver industry-focused courses in the AVGC-XR sector, including Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality. Announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit in May 2025, IICT is supported by global partnerships. The initial offerings comprise six gaming courses, four in post-production, and eight focused on animation, comics, and XR, developed with leading industry figures to meet the demands of the evolving technology landscape.

A significant MoU with the University of York will facilitate research collaboration, faculty exchanges, and global certification. Collaboration with major corporations like Google, YouTube, Adobe, and more will enhance curriculum development, provide scholarships, internships, and incubation opportunities. CEO Dr. Vishwas Deoskar aims to transform India into a global AVGC-XR powerhouse by cultivating top-tier talent. The curriculum, set to be unveiled soon, is designed to align with global standards while celebrating India’s creative vigor. The governing body includes prominent figures ensuring strategic oversight. With the AVGC-XR market projected to surge, IICT aims to create a skilled workforce to elevate India's creative economy.
