Golaghat (Assam), 15 July (HS): Police has arrested Manjil Pegu, director of Bharti Sanchay and Loan Pradan Samavay Samiti Limited located in Bokakhat of the district. Bokakhat police on Tuesday said that Manjil Pegu was arrested by Bokakhat police from Lichubari of Jorhat district.

In the financial report of the last three years, a big financial scam was alleged against Samavay Samiti. Due to which the Registrar of the Co-operative Society of Jorhat has closed Samavay. After the closure of Samavay, the depositors were getting troubled in search of their due money.

Bokakhat police is continuing further interrogation of the arrested director Manjil Pegu. At present, Bokakhat police has not made any information public. Meanwhile, a protest was organized by the Bokakhat District Magistrate's Committee of Riser Dal demanding the arrest of all the board members including the director in connection with the big financial scam of Bharti Sanchay and Rin Pradan Sahakari Samiti Limited of Bokakhat.

The people involved in the protest have presented a memorandum to the Co District Commissioner of Bokakhat demanding action against the accused as well as return of the due money. Police is investigating the matter.
