Mumbai, 15 July (HS): The Maharashtra
State Road Transport Corporation has planned 5,000 additional buses between
Mumbai and Konkan during the Ganesh Festival. The buses will be available from
August 23 to September 7, for the festival beginning August 27. A large number
of people in the Mumbai region return to their homes during the festival. The
additional buses are being provided to avoid a rush on the regular transport
vehicles.
Maharashtra’s Transport Minister Pratap
Sarnaik convened a meeting to discuss the plan and review preparations for the
festival. MSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Dr Madhav Kusekar and other
officers were present.
The buses are made available on a ‘No Loss
No Profit’ basis. The reservation facilities will be made available on the
official website, public.msrtcors.com, or through MSRTC Bus Reservation App. The
seats can be reserved from July 22.
The concessions for senior citizens (100%)
and women (50%) will be available on these buses.
The buses will start from bus stations in Mumbai,
Palghar, and Thane. Squads for repairs, if required, are also being posted at
various places on the route.
