Hooghly, 15 July (H.S.): In a shocking case allegation of sexual harassment surfaced in a renowned government school in Chandannagar. The school's headmaster has been accused of sexual harassment of a class one student during school. On Tuesday, the accused was arrested and presented in the court. Meanwhile, a section of students and parents gathered in front of the police station in support of the headmaster and demanded his release.

This incident took place on Monday morning in Chandannagar Municipal Corporation-run Kanailal Vidyamandir school. As per information, there was a minor fight between two class one students during the class. The class teacher took both of them to the headmaster. The headmaster allegedly sexually abused one of the students. Not only this, he also threatened the student not to tell anyone about the incident.

After the incident, when the mother of the student was taking him home from school, the child told everything to her mother on the way. After that, the family informed other parents and a written complaint was lodged against the accused in Chandannagar police station in the afternoon.

After the complaint was lodged, the accused was taken into custody after interrogation in the evening. But the very next day, i.e. on Tuesday, some students and parents of the school gathered in front of the police station and protested against the arrest. They said that the headmaster has been implicated in a false case and the education system of the school has improved a lot during his tenure.

Chandannagar Mayor Ram Chakraborty said, Kanailal School is a reputed educational institution of Chandannagar, where education is done from pre-primary to class 12th. There is only one head teacher in the school. He has been accused of inappropriate behavior with the students. If this incident is true, then the police should conduct an impartial investigation and take strict action. Such incidents are condemnable for educational institutions.
