Chhindwara, July 14 (HS): Eklavya Model Residential School Tamia, located approximately 54 kilometers from Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, is transforming the lives of tribal children through quality education. The school embodies the Narendra Modi government's vision of "empowerment through education," particularly focusing on empowering tribal communities. According to principal Rakesh Kushwaha, the school offers free education for classes 6 to 12 along with complimentary accommodation, food, health services, books, and stationery. It also provides diverse training opportunities in sports and arts like painting, music, and drama, fostering holistic development to facilitate integration into mainstream society for tribal children.
This institution is a vital resource for local tribal populations, offering a lifeline to deserving students selected through merit-based entrance exams. A recent highlight for the school was the selection of four students in the JEE Mains, leading to an enthusiastic shift towards preparing for the JEE Advanced. Rakesh Kushwaha explained the importance of strong performance in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry to achieve competitive marks. Success in JEE Mains allows access to state colleges, while JEE Advanced opens doors to prestigious institutes such as the IITs.
Eklavya Model Residential School's achievements have positioned it among the top educational establishments, becoming a focal point for JEE and NEET aspirants nationwide. Impressively, out of 67 tribal students from this school who appeared for the NEET examination, 57 were selected. Satyendra Singh Markam, Assistant Commissioner of the Tribal Development Department, commended the school's dedicated educators for their role in this success, emphasizing the inspirational impact on other students.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs aims to establish a total of 728 Ekvalvya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) throughout India to benefit around 3.5 lakh tribal students. Principal Kushwaha noted that these schools are established in areas with significant tribal populations. The government collaborates with state authorities to operate these schools, ensuring all facilities are provided free of charge.
Eklavya Model Residential School's mission is to deliver high-quality education and prepare tribal students for competitive examinations, helping them to join the mainstream. Facilities include accommodation, food, school supplies, laboratory access, libraries, and sports amenities, alongside technical education, smart classrooms, and AI-based computer labs. The school's drive ensures that tribal children can pursue their dreams of becoming doctors, engineers, and researchers, signifying a hopeful future for the community. The encouragement for tribal children to achieve their aspirations marks an optimistic beginning to their educational journey.
