Barpeta (Assam), 13 July (HS): Preparations are in full swing for a special event on 'Thiya-Naam', the heritage of Assam's precious Satriya culture. After the world records made for Bihu and Jhumur, now the Namatiya artists of lower Assam have come forward with a unique resolution.

To promote 'Thiya-Naam', composed by the great Sant Madhavdev and an integral part of the Satriya tradition, on August 10, more than 5,000 Namatiya artists are going to set a new record by singing Thiya-Naam together.

In the meantime, the Akhara (training meeting) of artists has started in every district for this event with the aim of registering the name in the 'Assam Book of Records'. Regular practice of Thiy-Nam is also going on at the Barpeta Road branch Satra, where Namtiya artists have been participating in large numbers for the past several days.

According to the organizers, more than 5,000 Namtiya artists from lower Assam will participate in Thiy-Nam together at the Houli Ras temple complex in Barpeta on August 10. Through this historical presentation, an attempt will be made to give a new status to this heritage of Assam's Satriya culture 'Thiy-Nam' by registering it in the 'Assam Book of Records'.
