Golaghat (Assam), 13 July (HS): In a shocking incident in Navjanchuk village of Saudangpathar in Merapani, dacoits targeted the house of Assam Police Jawan Shyamal Thengal. At the time of the incident, Thengal was out of the house due to his duty, while his wife Pooja Thengal was present in the house with two young children.

Unknown youths secretly entered the house and intimidated the sleeping woman and instructed her not to make noise. After this, both of them broke the cupboard and looted about 19 thousand rupees in cash, gold jewelry worth more than one lakh rupees and a mobile phone.

According to the victim Pooja Thengal, the age of the dacoits must have been around 16 to 17 years. She has lodged a complaint in this regard at Merapani police station.

It is noteworthy that in the recent past, the trend of drug abuse has increased rapidly in the Merapani area, due to which incidents of theft and robbery are happening frequently. In such a situation, the question arises that when theft and robbery are taking place in the house of policemen, then one can easily guess what is the condition of security of the common citizens of the state.
