Delhi, 13 July (H.S.): The 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle took place successfully this Sunday, led by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, with over 500 participants. This nationwide cycling initiative, in partnership with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), saw participation from 7000 locations across the country, emphasizing the slogan “Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz.” Over 3000 Namo Fit India Cycling clubs contributed to the event, demonstrating the initiative's strength and alignment with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Fit India mission.
Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the transformative impact of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle during his address, mentioning the enthusiastic involvement of the youth across the country. He also interacted with the Indian Youth Women’s Handball team in their national coaching camp in Gandhinagar. The event was inaugurated by Arjuna Awardee Rajinder Singh Rahelu, along with several local dignitaries including MLAs, the Mayor, and the District Collector.
Participants included employees from prominent PSUs such as ONGC, Indian Oil, and BPCL, among others. Lalit Kumar Watts from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board praised the initiative's connection under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Sports Minister. The event in New Delhi, held at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, featured various fitness activities, including rope skipping and Zumba, and was flagged off by The Great Khali. Addressing the crowd, Khali urged the importance of fitness in pursuing India's aspiration of becoming a 'Vishwaguru' and encouraged the youth to engage in positive activities away from drugs.
A special edition was also hosted by Raahgiri Foundation in Gurgaon, with 700 participants engaging in cycling, yoga, and interactive games. The Fit India Sundays initiative is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India and several Khelo India centres across the country, actively promoting fitness through cycling every Sunday.
