Birbhum, 12 July (H.S.) Hasin Jahan, former wife of Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami, has once again landed in controversy—this time over allegations of assaulting a neighbor in a land dispute. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Hindusthan Samachar does not verify the authenticity of the video.

According to sources, a piece of land located in the Sonator area of Ward No. 5 in Suri belongs to Hasin Jahan’s daughter Arshi Jahan, from her first marriage. Allegedly, a neighbor named Guddu Bibi has been trying to encroach on this land.

The situation escalated on Friday when construction work began on the disputed land. Guddu Bibi allegedly attempted to stop the work. At this, Hasin Jahan allegedly assaulted Guddu Bibi during the altercation. In the viral video, Hasin Jahan can be seen beating the woman. As a result, Guddu Bibi sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to the Suri Sadar Hospital. Hasin Jahan has not responded to the allegations till the time of filing of the news.

Reacting on the incident, Qazi Farzuddin, councillor of ward number 5 said on Saturday, “I believe Hasin Jahan is mentally unstable. No sane person behaves this way. She has filed cases against her own parents and sister, as well as against Shami. Her first marriage took place right below my house—and the divorce, too. At one point, she even lived in my house. Now she’s disturbing the peace of the entire neighborhood. I think she thrives on filing cases and staying in the spotlight.”

Moreover, local residents submitted a mass petition to the authorities demanding strict action against Hasin

Jahan.
