Goalpara (Assam), 12 July (HS): A big encroachment removal drive was started by the administration on Saturday morning in the Paikan area of Goalpara district.
According to the information received, this drive is being run on 1038 bighas of government land, on which the administration has started the process of removing about 1080 families who have illegally occupied it.
This drive was started at 6 am today, in which a large number of police force of the sixth battalion has been deployed to deal with any kind of untoward incident.
After prior notice by the administration, some people have voluntarily left the encroachment, while the action to remove others is still going on. The administration is keeping a close watch on the situation.
