12 July (HS): Preparations have begun for the three-tier panchayat elections in
the state. The door-to-door counting of voters, survey and preparation of
handwritten drafts will be done between August 14 and September 29. The names
of all eligible persons who have completed 18 years of age on January 1, 2025
will be included in the voter list. The State Election Commission has released
a detailed program for revising the voter lists. According to the notification
issued, in case of a partial part of a Gram Panchayat being included in another
Gram Panchayat or urban body, the process of completion and printing of voter
list will be done between July 18 and August 13. In the same period, the work
of allocation of work area to BLOs and supervisors, training and distribution
of stationery will be completed.
The
period for applying online for inclusion in the voter list will be from 14
August to 22 September. The door-to-door verification of the online application
forms will be done between 23 September and 29 September. The handwritten
manuscripts prepared for making changes in the voter list will be submitted to
the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer's office from 30 September to 6
October. The work of preparing the draft manuscript on computer will be done
between 7 October and 24 November.
Disposal
of objections between 13 December and 19 December: The work of ordering polling
stations and places, mapping of wards etc. will be completed from 25 November
to 4 December. The draft of the provisional voter list will be published on 5
December. The provisional voter list will be inspected between 6 December and
12 December. Claims and objections will be taken from 6 December to 12
December. The special thing is that the claims and objections of all eligible
persons who have completed 18 years of age on 1 January 2026 will be accepted.
These
claims and objections will be settled between 13 December and 19 December.
After settlement, their drafts will have to be submitted in the office of the
Assistant Electoral Registration Officer between December 20-23. These will be
included in the original list between 24 December and 8 January. The work of
ordering the voter centers and voter list, mapping of wards etc. will be done
between 9 January and 14 January. The final list will be published for the
general public on January 15. The
concerned offices will remain open even on holidays: The concerned offices will
remain open on public holidays falling during the massive revision of the voter
list. The notification states that the deadline will not be extended under any
circumstances.
