Imphal, 11 July (HS): An important second phase review meeting was held in Manipur on Friday under the chairmanship of Union Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, in which Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and senior state government officials participated. Scindia attended the meeting 'virtually'.

The meeting discussed primary issues such as development of the polo tourism circuit, promotion of world-famous Loktak lake, promotion of palm oil cultivation and support for the weaver community. Minister Scindia reviewed the investment opportunities arising from the recent Emerging Northeast Investor Summit and reiterated the Center's commitment to their effective implementation.

On this occasion, Manipur Governor Bhalla directed all the concerned officials to expedite the projects of the Ministry of Development of Northeast. An official statement issued said that future strategies and priority areas were also identified during the meeting.

Manipur Chief Secretary P Singh gave a detailed presentation on the state's progress, challenges and ongoing projects in the meeting. He also held special discussions on topics related to handloom, handicrafts, textile industry, tourism, transport, connectivity and palm oil production.

According to the statement, strengthening logistics, attracting investment, accelerating rural development, monitoring priority projects and completing pending schemes under Donor and Northeast Council were among the important agenda of the meeting.

In the meeting, Minister Scindia described the continued cooperation between the Center and the state as essential for the transformation and overall development of Manipur.
