Dhubri (Assam), 11 July (HS): The action of Golokganj police against cattle smuggling in the district is continuing. In this regard, the police succeeded in recovering five cattle. Police has said on Friday that on the basis of a secret information, a police team led by Golokganj police station in-charge police officer Devjit Kalita took action in the Pesterghat area of Golokganj.
In this action, a Centro car (WB-02Z-9874) going from Tufanganj in the neighboring state of West Bengal to Gauripur was stopped at Pesterghat in Golokganj. Police recovered five cattle being smuggled through the car. However, no smuggler could be arrested in this case. It is believed that the smugglers absconded taking advantage of the darkness. It is said that the smugglers had planned to send the cattle from Dhubri to the neighboring country Bangladesh. Police is continuing the investigation of the case.
