11 July (HS): In Prime Minister Narendra
Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi, on Thursday evening, Congress took
out a 'Pol-Khol Padyatra' to highlight the ground level problems of the city.
During this, the government was cornered over the problems of waterlogging,
broken roads and affected shopkeepers. An FIR was lodged late night at Sigra
police station against 60 workers including Congress state president Ajay Rai
on the charge of obstructing traffic on the main road during the padyatra.
This
case has been registered on the complaint of Kashi Vidyapeeth outpost in-charge
Vikas Shandilya. The leaders against whom the FIR has been registered include
Congress district president Rajeshwar Patel, Raghavendra Choubey, Dharmendra
Tiwari, Fasahat Hussain, Pramod Pandey, Gulshan Ali, Shatnam Singh, Ashok
Singh, Akeel Ansari and 50 unknown workers.
State
President Ajay Rai said that the development being shown in Kashi is completely
superficial and fake. Taking the BJP government to task, he said, The
double engine government has brought Kashi on the path of destruction. The
Modi-Yogi government should stop making false claims of development. He
said that traders were displaced in the name of the night market project and
ropeway construction. The government is neither aware of the drains nor the
condition of the roads. Normal life is in disarray from Church to Godaulia. The
livelihood of shopkeepers has been snatched away. After the FIR was registered,
Congress leaders accused the administration of bias and protested. They called
it a conspiracy to suppress the voice of the people.
