11 July (HS): The Excise team of Uttar Pradesh has carried out a series of
operations in the last 24 hours and has seized liquor crates being transported
from one state to another. During the operation, the Excise team and the State
Tax Department in Kanpur seized a large quantity of liquor crates being
transported to Bihar in a major operation.
In
a joint operation by the Excise Department and the State Tax Department in
Kanpur, the team has seized nine boxes of English liquor being smuggled in a
truck from Delhi. This recovery was made during checking. 432 bottles of After
Dark Whiskey were found in the recovered liquor boxes. The Excise team arrested
one accused of smuggling and his interrogation is going on.
According
to the information received from the Commissioner's Office of the UP Excise
Department, a team of excise inspectors in Siddharthnagar district on the Nepal
border raided Sonauli, Dhobha, Odnavatal, Bandhwatal and recovered 60 liters of
illegal liquor. The illegal liquor is said to be linked to Nepal and the team
is engaged in further action.
Similarly,
the inspectors of the excise team took action in Kaithi village in Karchana
area of Prayagraj and recovered 35 liters of illegal raw liquor. The excise
inspectors also recovered 200 kg of raw liquor from the spot, which was
destroyed. During this, two people managed to escape from the spot.
