Golaghat (Assam), 10 July (HS): Two people have been killed due to drowning in floods in Bokakhat and Sarupathar circles of Golaghat district. According to official information given on Thursday, due to continuous rain in Nagaland, the water level in Dhansiri river has increased and flood situation has arisen in five revenue circles of Golaghat district of Assam. The situation is improving in four circles and the water is decreasing, but due to the rising water level of Kakodunga river, some new areas of Golaghat revenue circle have been affected.

The district administration has so far operated a total of 37 relief camps at various places.

24 villages are affected in Morodi circle and about 5,000 people have been affected. 12 relief camps are running here. Three distribution centers are active.

In Bokakhat Circle, 12 villages have been affected and 9167 persons have been affected. Three relief camps are operational here

Numaligarh School, 5 No. Bosapathar, Pub Kuruabahi MES. Two distribution centres are functional.

In Khumti Circle, 16 villages have been affected and 2516 persons have been affected. Eight relief camps are operational. Five distribution centres are functional.

In Golaghat Circle, 24 villages have been affected and 3357 persons have been affected. Ten relief camps are operational here. One distribution centre is operational at Aborghat Club House.

In Sarupathar Circle, 18 villages have been affected and 1708 persons have been affected. Four relief camps are operational here.

Continuous rescue operations are being carried out by SDRF Golaghat and NDRF Jorhat (which is stationed at Morongi). Administrative officials, LRA and DDMA teams are present at the site. Teams from the Health, Animal Husbandry, Water Resources, PHE and PWRD departments are also engaged in relief work.
