Chennai, 10 July (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has made a pointed remark to Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), leader of the opposition AIADMK, stating that the state had already saved the party from the BJP's attempts to merge it with their own ranks.
Addressing EPS directly, Stalin implied that the AIADMK's reliance on the BJP for political mileage had put the party in a precarious position. He suggested that the DMK government had played a crucial role in preventing the BJP from absorbing the AIADMK, thereby preserving its identity as a regional party.
Stalin's comments come amid ongoing political tensions between the DMK and AIADMK, with both parties frequently exchanging barbs on various issues. The Chief Minister's remarks highlight the complex dynamics of Tamil Nadu politics, where regional parties navigate delicate alliances and rivalries with national parties.
The DMK government's role in safeguarding the AIADMK's interests is a contentious topic, with the ruling party asserting its influence in state politics. Stalin's statement underscores the DMK's stance on protecting regional parties' autonomy and preventing national parties from dominating the state's political landscape.
