Guwahati, 10 July (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party, Assam Pradesh Chief Spokesperson Kishore Kumar Upadhyay has said that not an inch of encroached land of Assam will be left. He said that some individuals and organizations are making planned efforts to save illegal encroachment from eviction, which the BJP strongly condemns. These organizations are not only obstructing the legal action of the government, but are also trying to do political blackmailing by misleading the indigenous people of Assam.
Kishor Upadhyay was addressing a press conference organized at the state BJP headquarters on Thursday. He clarified that no one will be allowed to illegally occupy PGR, VGR, forest land, reservoir or any kind of government land. These lands belong to the indigenous people of Assam and will remain with them.
He said that the Assamese language is our mother tongue, the main official language of the state, which is protected by the Indian Constitution. Some people are spreading the misconception that if people of Bengali origin stop speaking Assamese, the pride of Assamese language will diminish – this is completely baseless. Our language will continue to flow in its eternal stream.
Pointing to history, Upadhyay said that Bangladesh was established in 1971 on the basis of language, not religion. 25% Bengali Hindus also participated in the creation of Bangladesh, but today only 6% of them are left there – the rest were either displaced, became victims of forced conversion or had to see their daughters being raped.
Upadhyay alleged that the Muslim leadership gained power in the name of language but implemented Sharia law for governance. Those who are opposing Assamese language and identity today should first read the history of Bangladesh. They do not have an emotional attachment to the Assamese language, but a well-planned blackmailing. Their aim is to grab land, change the population balance and establish dominance over the culture and politics of Assam.
Citing the 2011 census, he said Assam had a Muslim population of 1.06 crore, of which about 92 lakh were Bengali-speaking. Even if 40 lakh Bengali Hindus are excluded, 52–60 lakh Bengali-origin Muslims have declared Bengali as their mother tongue.
Citing an example, he said there were 1,39,178 Bengali-speaking Muslims in Kalgachhia Circle, while there were only 1,391 Bengali-speaking Hindus. The total population in Baghbar was 2,90,158, of which only 10,789 were Bengali-speaking Hindus. These figures are not a coincidence, but expose a deep and dangerous conspiracy of Bangladeshi expansion.
The chief spokesperson alleged that some organisations are promoting illegal encroachment and want to gain political mileage by creating an emotional atmosphere on the issue of eviction and language.
The BJP has a clear message — not even an inch of Assam's land will be allowed to remain under illegal occupation.
The BJP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is strong, united and determined – to protect the land, language, culture and heritage of Assam.
Thanking the Chief Minister for his bold and visionary leadership, Upadhyay said that his unwavering stand has instilled pride and confidence in the heart of every Assamese. --------
