Kolkata, 10 July (H.S.): The Calcutta High Court on Thursday received a sealed investigation report from Kolkata Police in connection with the alleged gangrape of a student inside the premises of a law college in Kasba. The report was submitted to the Division Bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Smita Das De, which handed it over to the advocate representing the victim’s family with strict instructions that its contents are not to be made public.

The case involves a serious allegation of gangrape that reportedly took place on June 25 inside the Kasba-based law college. Manojeet Mishra, a former student of the institution, has been identified as the prime accused. He has been arrested along with two other accused and a security guard of the college. The case is being probed by the Detective Department of Kolkata Police, headquartered at Lalbazar.

Earlier, the court had directed the police to submit a detailed account explaining how such a heinous incident could occur within the college premises and to provide details about the institution's security protocols. In compliance with this directive, police submitted the sealed report on Thursday.

The court, after reviewing the report, reiterated that its contents are confidential and cannot be disclosed publicly. In addition to the primary investigation report, a separate report was submitted regarding the unauthorised entry of outsiders into college campuses and the alleged influence they may exert.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 17.
