COLOMBO, 1 July (H.S.): The Sri Lankan Navy announced on Tuesday that it detained seven Indian fishermen and confiscated their trawler for reportedly fishing illegally in the country's waters, marking the second occurrence of this kind within a week.

According to the Navy spokesman, the detentions occurred on Monday evening in the territorial waters of the Talaimannar area.

The Navy stated that the detained fishermen and their fishing vessel would be transferred to the fisheries inspectorate in Mannar.
