Tension in Dhubri's Indo-Bangla border after suspected beef found at temple


Dhubri (Assam), 8 June (HS): A tense situation arose in the area on suspicion of deliberate placing of beef at night in the 100-year-old Harimandir located in Kedar area under Nalia outpost of Golakganj.

Local people allege that it was a well-planned conspiracy. As soon as the incident was reported, All Assam Koch Rajbanshi Students Union (AKRASU) and Bajrang Dal activists surrounded the Nalia police outpost and protested strongly. This further increased the tension in the area.

The president and secretary of the temple committee have lodged an FIR at the Nalia police outpost demanding a fair investigation into the matter.

As soon as the incident was reported, the Additional Superintendent of Police of Golakganj and the Golakganj police station in-charge reached the spot and took the situation under control.

The police say that in view of the seriousness of the matter, investigation has been started and strict action will be taken against the culprits. Security has been increased in the area as a precaution.
