Guwahati, 8 June (HS): Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) has announced the name of its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. On Sunday, official sources of the party said that after an important meeting held at the party headquarters in Ambari, senior leaders announced the nomination of Birendra Prasad Baishya as the party candidate.
Assam Gana Parishad informed through a statement that senior leader Baishya has been made a candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections to be held on June 19. However, the party has made him a candidate under a special condition. According to this condition, after two years, Baishya will have to leave this seat for another leader of the party.
Many other senior officials including AGP President and Minister Atul Bora, Working President and Minister Keshav Mahanta, MP and senior leader Phanibhushan Choudhary were also present in this important meeting. ---------------
